using forwarded post by putty

I access a MySQL database on a VPS using putty and the tunneling feature:

Under Windows, I just use port 3306 on my local machine, and the request is forwarded to the VPS. putty has the same feature under Linux, but it seems I can connect to the port forwarding of port 3306 that putty provides?
