Wildtangent Console setup help

Post by Gale Gamer »

Hello everyone! I'm a newbie who has been trying to download my windows games onto Linux Mint via wine, and I could use some help.

I've been trying to download the wildtangent gaming console via wine 2.0.

A window does come up entitled wildtangent setup, complete with the logo. But the window is completely empty. I've downloaded all the windows fonts via winetricks, and I've tried running it in both a 32 and a 64 bit environments, but neither have worked.

I only just recently how to figure out how to run it in the terminal, and here's the output:

Code: Select all

I'm not extremely techy, but I can't make much sense of this other than there seems to be problems with the ioctl. If someone can help me out with this, I'd be very grateful!

@Gale Gamer

Try:

Code: Select all

winetricks ie8
Making sure your Winetricks script is up-to-date first! See WineHQ: Winetricks ...

@Bob Wya

Thanks for replying!

Ok, I just tried that, but it ended up saying that the browser wasn't supported by the operating system (still using windows 7), it still seemed to install regardless...

I tried the wild tangent setup again, but the window still has nothing inside it.

err:winediag:SECUR32_initNTLMSP ntlm_auth was not found or is outdated. Make sure that ntlm_auth >= 3.0.25 is in your path. Usually, you can find it in the winbind package of your distribution.
This may not be the main issue, but you should install the winbind package (32bit version, if you are running a 64bit linux).

Thanks for the suggestion! I installed winbind, but that didn't make much of a difference aside from the error being gone in the terminal.

@Gale Gamer,

You still need to install Internet Explorer:

Code: Select all

winetricks winxp
winetricks ie8
winetricks win7
Will fix your previous issue.

However the installed Wildtangent game console still insta-crashes.
I'll test with a more recent version of flash (the winetricks version is very old)...
I doubt the game manager will work. Adobe flash is OK for videos - but I'm not sure Wine will be able to run flash games...

I know i am late, but I know a way to make wt probably run. it installs no problem with real 32-bit ie6 and even pulls up the update bar when virtual desktop is enabled. I had flashplayer, directX, and vareous fonts installed to make it do this. I used play on linux btw. because there is currently no 64bit internet explorer on wine components installer, if you run wine in windows 2003, and install internet explorer 7 from the microsoft website for 64 bit, it will run.

I cannot test this as i accidentally used winetricks to install ie8 32bit on my linux, i get the error "cannot install, newer version of internet explorer detected on computer." i can test this if someone knows a work around regurading said error but if not this should work if you do not get said error. I am on ubuntu, so i donno if that effects this solution method. hope it helps.

PS: vista 64 bit ie will not work. at all. if someone could test this for me thanks in advance
