Possible bug in the new versions of wine?

Post by duturitaly1953 »

Goodmorning everyone

PROBLEM:
play mshearts

INSTRUMENTS
at office: pc 64-bit, 64-bit Slackware 14.1, wine version 1.6.1
at home: pc 64-bit, 64-bit Slackware 14.2, wine version 1.8.3

From an installation of windows xp, virtualized with VirtualBox, I copied mshearts with all necessary files and their locations, in a dedicated folder.

I have the following folders of wine (.wine *) shared between home and office via an external hard drive:
one each for MsOffice 2000, 2003, 2007 and 2010; two for StarOffice 5.2, one that includes an OpenOffice version 1.1.5, 2.2.4 and 3.3; all perfctly working at home or at office.

I had a copy of mshearts on .wine2003 folder, and it works fine and it works great at home or in the office

At home I tried, from the dedicated folder, copy the game in all other .wine folders, but no copies of these work, both would try to launch the game from wine explorer, is that I tried to launch it directly from .wine */ drive_c / windows / system32

After being deleted, I repeated the operation in the office: all functioned.
Back home, I tried to run the game from different folders:
after the usual warning that .wine* was updating, the game started regularly
without problems.

This is the message of the wine error:

wine: can not find L "C: \\ Windows \\ system32 \\ mshearts.exe"

If I play the game from the source folder, mshearts also works at home

So I think there is some problem in newer versions of wine.

Thank You

What is the exact command you used to run the game?
