Hi,
the Skyrim Script Extender (skse)
http://skse.silverlock.org/
stopped working after a linux kernel update to 4.8.x or higher (4.7.4 works, gentoo-sources). Basically wine hangs if run with newer kernel versions and has to be killed manually (ctrl+c or wineserver -k not working). Same result with wine and wine-staging. I first tried a regression test for wine till I discovered this forum thread which describes this exact problem and gives a hint that the kernel is responsible:
https://forum.manjaro.org/t/skse-fails- ... wine/12136
Other people describe the same problem here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/wine_gaming/co ... nder_wine/
The skse.exe starts the tesv.exe. Maybe this is forbidden in newer kernel versions? (it even works with enbinjector.exe, but not very well due to directx-related problems.) I could not find anything about it in the application database for skse and skyrim nor a related bug report. Is this worth a wine bug report or is my kernel configuration wrong? Any help is appreciated.
Regards
Steffen
SKSE stopped working after linux kernel update 4.8.x
Re: SKSE stopped working after linux kernel update 4.8.x
There was a kernel bug affecting Wine that appeared in 4.8.3 and has already been fixed upstream: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41637.
Re: SKSE stopped working after linux kernel update 4.8.x
Using kernel 4.9.9 fixed the problem for me. Thank you. I used 4.9.4 for my tests, so I had bad luck.
