Install failure Office 97

I had successfully installed Office 97 using Wine 1.5 but when I attempt to install it using 1.6 it fails with this message:
couldn't load main module (2)
Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00474a7e in 32-bit code (0x7ec13bf0).

I am trying to figure out if it is a problem with Wine, with Linux or with my computer...
