Trying to install Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007

Post by sarian90 »

Hi

I downloaded Wine Tricks and tried to see if it will allow me to install Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007.

It appears to only have Office 2007 Pro as an option from a CD.

Is it possible to install my package in Wine?

Sorry to ask, as I am new to Ubuntu and its packages.

Regards

You don't need winetricks to install any version of Office 2007. Follow the HOWTO in the AppDB. https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... n&iId=4992

Hi

Thanks for that. We are using Play on linux to install it. The problem now is that it doesn't acknowledge the printer. Is there a way to setup the emulator to access the printer.

Kind Regards

PlayOnLinux is not supported here, and their scripts for Microsoft Office in particular have a long history of adding unnecessary overrides that break things, so if you are going to use that, ask for help on their forum.

Wine uses CUPS for printing, and should automatically recognize any printers installed in CUPS, but 32 bit CUPS is needed for 32 bit apps. The most common cause of printing not working in Wine is missing 32 bit CUPS.
