ms office to open file via desktop shortcut issue

Post by juntjoo »

strangely when I try this it creates an actual file called "link to (file).xls" and disconnects me from the original file that the shortcut linked to. So when I do anything it's saved to this new file. So basically a shortcut is useless using ms office through wine. Not a deal breaker at all, but it would be nice to be able to use shortcuts to save a couple steps to get to some files.

You need to explain more clearly exactly what "shortcuts" you're talking about. Winemenubuilder creates menu items and .desktop files for installed apps, and they should work, but it doesn't sound like that's what you mean. How exactly are you creating these shortcuts?

Right click on the file "Make a link". then take it to the desktop.
