Winetricks to install MS Excel

Post by swchuck »

Hi

Firstly how do I find the version number for wine?

Next, recently downloaded winetricks.

Now I have downloaded MS Excel 2013 .exe file and want to install with winetricks. When a couple of steps in,(after select 'wine prefix' and then' browse files) and select the .exe file from the' browse' folder the linux window does not offer an option to select for winetricks, and I can go no further.

Should I be doing something slightly different to select the .exe
and:

If I get wine to open it it opens a screen to load cubip. I install and get no further keeps coming back to cubip screens

Thanks

You misunderstand how winetricks works. It is not associated with .exe files and cannot be used to install any and all executables. It has verbs for specific things it can install, and Excel 2013 isn't one of them.
