Problems installing Canon Digital Photo Professional 4

Post by mersault »

Hello, I use Ubuntu 16.04 (gnome flashback) with WINE installed program Canon Digital Photo Professional (DPP) 3. Lately Canon released version 4 of this program and I tried to install it with WINE (appDB said it worked ok: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... &iId=31400 ). Installation completed successfully, but when I tried to run program, it starts to load, but then nothing happens. Beacause of that, I tried to uninstall DPP 4, but uninstall started and after 1/3 of uninstall process being done, it just stops (progress bar shows around 30% and it doesn't move forward or disappear). I have to end proces with system monitor. Now I'm stuck with program that does not work and can not be uninstalled. My questions:
1. what am I doing wrong?
2. can I have DPP 4 installed and working?
3. if not - how do I uninstall it?
4. does previous version (DPP 3) somehow obstruct DPP 4 from running - I don't want to uninstall DPP 3 and then install DPP 4, because I might lose both?
