About Risk of Viruses & Spyware When Installing Wine

Post by Nokia-808 »

Hi.

I read the following threatining about wine:
https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/wine

I searched official WineHQ site about this & I found the following:
https://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#Is_Wine_mal ... patible.3F

From above link my question is about the following paragraph (please constrating on red words):
"You need to use AppArmor, SELinux or some type of virtual machine if you want to properly sandbox Windows apps."

My question is that: If I install Debian distro. (NOT UBUNTU OR LINUX MINT) & installing WineHQ on Debian, does this will give me protection against viruses & spyware that could be launched by wine?? Debian have SELinux installed & activated by default (oposite to Ubuntu & Linux Mint). I mean is SELinux that came with Debian by default remove risk of demaging or stolen my personal files?? If yes, is the default setting of SELinux of Debian is enough for that or it need some customization??

No.

Ask on the Debian forum. I have no idea what their default settings for SELinux are.
