I'm seeing a problem with a certain type of lighting effect in multiple games. When present, the issue causes glowing red artifacts in areas that are lit a certain way (see screenshots - notice the artifacts on the ME3 laptop screen especially). I can't figure out what's causing this.
I've Seen this on:
[*] Multiple games (Mass Effect 3 and Spec Ops: The Line)
[*] Multiple graphics cards (both NVIDIA Maxwell architecture, using proprietary drivers)
[*] Multiple WINE versions (1.7.32, 1.7.52-staging, unknown version bundled with SpecOps the Line)
I've tried:
[*] Adjusting in-game graphics settings (enabling / disabling different options like texture filtering, AA, spherical lighting, etc.)
[*] Adjusting WINE settings (using virtual desktop, StrictDrawOrdering, CSMT
[*] WinXP and Win7 bottles
[*] Simulating reboot, rebooting computer, restarting X11
What's especially weird is that these artifacts don't always occur. I have run ME3 once or twice with no problems, but every other time the artifacts appear. Same story with SpecOps the line; sometimes it's OK, but not always.
Does anyone recognize these artifacts? I'd be grateful for any suggestions as to what else to try toubleshooting.
