Sketchup: The explorer process failed to start

Sketchup can import data from google maps. For that it opens a browser and asks the user to select an area.

Although I have wine-gecko installed, a native browser (konqueror in my case) opens and the communication back (using a skp:/ URL) does not work.

I am wondering, why the built-in explorer does not open.

I get on stdout/stderr

Application tried to create a window, but no driver could be loaded.
The explorer process failed to start.

and then konqueror opens the page. Is that a fallback, since the interanl explorer process failed?

If yes, does anybody understand why the explorer process fails when called from within sketchup?
