Voyage Century Online - msvcp80.dll

Post by MadHatter »

Hello,

Im trying to play Voyage Century Online in Wine version (amd64) 1.5.24, (I have PlayOnLinux installed version 4.0.14) on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x64 OS, the game installs perfectly loads the launcher, and even updates too latest version. That being said upon clicking the "Start Game" button, immediately crashes with an unhandled exception unimplemented function msvcp80.dll.

I feel like im missing a lib or something here, after unsuccessfully looking for additional help from the games forum (Only 1 configuration for wine could be found and its outdate by about 5 years), I could sure use some assitance here, am I correct in assuming I should go back to a 32bit version of wine instead of the 64? In wine config I added the msvcp80.dll in the overide section, I have also added 60 through 100 with no change.

I know im missing something simple here, but I havent programmed anything in nearly a decade, any assitance here would be of great value too me.
Thank You in advance!!

Here is a copy of the output -

We do not support third-party wrappers here. Please try again with plain Wine in clean Wineprefix (delete or rename your ~/.wine). According to AppDB no additional DLLs are required: just install and run the game. If it does not work in clean Wine prefix, feel free to ask for more assistance.

The backtrace you originally posted says you are using Wine 1.4, not 1.5.24, and the function your game is crashing on was implemented in 1.5.7. Upgrade to 1.5.24 and reinstall the app to a clean wineprefix.

Okay so I managed too get the latest version of wine install, and then re-installed the game, which again updated to the latest version.

Almost worked, It loaded a black screen and began too play the opening sound before hanging. The in-game bug reporter appeared, followed quickly by the program error details dialogue window.
However the Program Error Details dialogue window hung as well saying "loading detail information, please wait....." (I let it sit for quite sometime and it never did generate the output.)
So I am unable too provide you with more information about the latest crash.

Im not sure if its worth noting or not, but on the wineHQ appDB it describes creating your own .reg file too increase video memory size to 256.

Code: Select all

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D]
"VideoMemorySize"="256"
I checked via launching the terminal in ubuntu and running - wine regedit
Their doesnt appear too be a Direct3D path at the forementioned regiestery, might this have something too do with the problem? Just curious.

Any suggestions on how too generate a log or txt on the latest crash?

It's not there by default. You have to create it.

Okay managed too import the .reg file no problems.

Ran the cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Games/Voyage Century Online wine voyagecentury.exe &> log.txt, here's what I got from the log.txt file.

Code: Select all

Can't create directory 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Voyage Century Online\voyage\RESOURCE\model\'
Can't create directory 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Voyage Century Online\voyage\RESOURCE\model\'
Can't create directory 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Voyage Century Online\voyage\RESOURCE\TEXTURES\interface\MiliRank\'
Edit:
After going too these paths the \model folder holds the folderinfo.dat file as well as scene.ini file.
The \MiliRank folder holds 47 tga.tx files

Hope this helps, Any suggestions?
Thanks again for all your support.

So I have downloaded the Wine 1.5-dbg as the article from your previous link pointed out, it might be a lack of debug symbols package, and now im recieving a log file that says the following...

Code: Select all

Can't delete file 'C:\Documents and Settings\chenc\×ÀÃæ\±±ÃÀ130.2\ÊÖ¶¯žüÐÂ\CrashDump.dmp'
Any ideas?
