Could you provide more detail because it seems that Wine 1.5.20 causes problems mainly for people on Ubuntu. The latest report for WoW in AppDB is with Wine 1.5.20 and the rating is Platinum (works out of the box). Although in the comments section there are people that can't get it to work on 1.5.20 (Ubuntu and Mint users which means Wine PPA).

The packages that come from Wine PPA contain patches for PulseAudio and maybe other things which are not part of the mainstream Wine.
You could also try disabling d3d11 via winecfg because the new Wine contains some parts of that (it will be long before it's usable).
