How do I tell Wine to use the hw:0 ALSA device?

Post by RealNC »

Wine by default uses the dmix ALSA device. I need to make it use the hw:0 hardware device instead. In most programs, like media players and such, I can just enter "hw:0" in their configuration dialogs in order to achieve that. In Wine, using "winecfg", there's no such option.

How do I do this? I need it for Reaper. dmix introduces way too much latency and makes Reaper useless for playing MIDI notes. I searched a lot but wasn't able to find any information that works (mostly registry settings that only affect ancient Wine versions.)

I do not have PulseAudio installed, btw. Just ALSA.
