Just installed official 12.10 Ubuntu release and

Post by A Nonny Moose »

1. It didn't load my graphics driver
2. I forced it.
3. It seemed to install but the ATI/AMD control panel can't find it
and
4. Nothing runs anymore (but does run on the Beta, without(?) the driver).

Please confirm that the diagnostics on the bottom of this log indicate the driver is not configured so I can send in a more intelligent bug report.

I really suspect this ATI/AMD 780 chip set has either died or is completely out of support. Beats me why this should be.

I am furious, and will have to cool down before I can send in anything intelligent. I feel like the distro has cast its pearls be for the swine (me). Grrr. :(

Thanks in advance for your kind attention.

By "nothing runs" do you mean in Wine only? Because if truly nothing runs, then it's clearly not a Wine issue.

What you've posted is obviously not a clean wineprefix: Wine's dxdiag is not functional, and installing native requires dll overrides. Does the problem occur when you run winecfg in a clean wineprefix?

With a clean wine prefix (just made it)

fixme:wbemprox:wbem_services_CreateInstanceEnum unsupported flags 0x00000030
fixme:wbemprox:enum_class_object_Next timeout not supported
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
Major opcode of failed request: 153 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString)
Serial number of failed request: 152
Current serial number in output stream: 152

I've already filed a bug with the distro. Ubuntu 12.10 official release doesn't see my GPU.
