I am using TheBat 5.0.36.x on Win7 and Kubuntu parallel. Because of using it on Win7 I know that TheBat has no problems with special characters like japanese ones.
On Kubuntu with wine japanese characters are displayed as squares.
Kubuntu itself and all the other used applications have no problem to display and to handle japanese characters. I have installed a japanes input-methode and it work very well.
Only TheBat on wine is not able to handle them.
Is wine the problem? Can I fix it? I rellay need japanese chars and there is no alternative to TheBat on Linux.

I installed cjkfonts with winetricks. But nothing changed. The behaviour is the same. Any ideas?

Are you starting it with LANG=ja_JP.utf8?
