IBEW64.exe error Dragon Naturally Speaking and games

Post by JDog514 »

Hello,

I am running Wine 1.4.1 on Linux Mint 13 and recently tried to install Dragon Naturally Speaking. It worked fine on Linux Mint 10 (Wine 1.4). I have tried 3 different versions (10,11, 12) and receive the message that IBEW64.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

It would not be that big of a deal but now other games that I try to install do not and close with that same error. Any suggesstions? Thank you very much.

Edit: This is the error I receive when trying to install

Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000007 in 64-bit code (0x00007f5e3e945886).

Re: IBEW64.exe error Dragon Naturally Speaking and games

I have what seems to be the same problem with IBEW64.exe: Linux Mint 13 64-bit; Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 pro; Wine 1.4.

http://pastebin.com/Ww4jPsr0

Googling the problem has led me to this thread. I would be grateful for any pointers.

Have you tried wine-1.5.15? Wine-1.4 is pretty old.

Thanks for the swift response, and your suggestion. I just tried installing Wine 1.5, but the problem remains.

Create a new, 32-bit wine environment and install the application into that:
WINEARCH=win32 winecfg

Thank you. Could I receive a step by step on how to create a 32 bit wine environment on 64 bit Linux Mint? Thank you very much.

I'm still confused with this problem as I tried to change the architecture by WINEARCH=win32 and then try to install but still have no luck. Any ideas? Thank you very much.

You can't change the architecture of an existing wineprefix. You need to create a fresh 32 bit wineprefix and install to that.

Right what I meant was that I have deleted me .wine folder ran the winearch command and tried to install but with no luck. Any help on how to do this the right way would be great. Thank you very much.
