Need help with Wine and PhysX

Post by icantsee99 » Thu Sep 13, 2012 11:22 pm

Hi all, I'm brand new to Linux and Wine, and I'm trying to get my steam games to work on Linux. I installed everything just fine, but when I went to install Trine, it took forever on the Initial Setup window while installing PhysX. Eventually after 30 minutes I cancelled the installation and tried again. This time it skipped the PhysX installation completely and took me to the startup window. But when I hit "Play Game" the game refused to start. Any ideas on how to get PhysX working? Thanks!

You could try a clean wineprefix, then install physx yourself ahead of time.
Either from http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.12 ... river.html
or via 'winetricks physx' (though winetricks installs a prety old physx, dunno if it suffices anymore).

What graphics card and drivers do you have? Other folks have had luck wth trine from steam:
