Installed RC Flightmaster succesfully now I get CD not found

Post by cheapo »

Wine with Ubuntu 11.04
Realitycraft RC Flightmaster has installed ok, but when I try to run the sim it can't find the CD that just did the install. I tried reinserting the disc but still the same.

Thanx in advance for any help. :)

Which version of wine are you using? wine-1.5.9 added some dvd detection fixes.

Thanks for your quick reply Dan

Hmm, I have version 1.3.28. I didn't realize that the Ubuntu even thought my update manager is checking and sometimes updating daily, it's not upgrading Wine. Presumably there's another way.
hmm, I just tried the download but it asks me what application I want to use for it, and I have no idea. Do you have a terminal command I can copy and paste? I'm not particularly 'savvy' with my machine, and chronic tinnitus spoils my concentration sometimes, but I'll have a go at stuff.

Thanks again Dan, for being helpful. :)

Pete.

I ran the first two commands ok, but then I get:

:~$ sudo apt-get install wine1.5
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package wine1.5
E: Couldn't find any package by regex 'wine1.5'

much obliged for any further assistance. :)

AFAIK, Ubuntu is only providing 1.5 packages for 12.04. The best users of older versions of Ubuntu can do via their package manager is upgrade to Wine 1.4, the package for which has been named wine1.3 for reasons known only to the maintainer.

You could just build Wine yourself.
