Difficulties running Steam in wine

I've been working on getting Steam working on my pc, I had gotten it working but accidentally ruined my linux install, and had to reinstall, and since then, I haven't been able to get anything working. I've tried using playonlinux, winetricks, and just working with wine to get anything working, and each time, I get an error similar to this

wine: Unhandled exception 0x40000015 at address 0x3f01ac40 (thread 0009), starting debugger...

This error occurs while I am logging in, everytime.

I've tried looking for this error elsewhere, and I've found absolutely nothing. Frankly, I'm terrible with linux and am absolutely new to this, so I can't really tell what this is telling me. If I could get some help, I would greatly appreciate it.
