Full-screen X-plane 7

I have installed X-plane 7 with Wine on Ubuntu 12.04. (Yes, I know the latest x-plane runs on Linux, but it also costs money.) After such a fresh install, X-Plane starts in full screen and runs beautifully. However, each time I start it after that it starts in a smaller window and cannot be taken to full screen. Is there a solution to this?
