aMSN installed, worked, then stopped working

Post by Dakotah »

Hi everyone, new Ubuntu user here. I was totally unsatisfied with my Empathy in Ubuntu very primitive so I downloaded Wine, Wine4Q and Winetricks, then successfully configured it so that I downloaded aMSN into the Windows platform. I used it for several hours. Before I went to bed, I accepted a number of automatic updates. I came back to my computer this morning and tried to sign on to my aMSN messenger and it won't work. At first it said that there was no Windows platform on my machine. Finally, the Wine4Q appeared on my launchpad and I was able to open my messenger but it will not come up online.

I fear that one of the updates must have caused the Wine to stop working and therefore render the aMSN to stop working as well. Does anyone know what steps I should take to fix this problem?

You may try using the Linux version of aMsn instead.
