Using Wine on Linux "Invalid Parameter" error

Post by jadarite »

I have tried to use Wine in Edubuntu, Ubuntu, and now Kubuntu. I get Invalid Parameter errors whenever I try to launch Paltalk.

I have the latest Wine installed. I wish I could get this running because I am connected to Paltalk all day, so I need access. It's the one big anchor keeping me in Windows, and I prefer Kubuntu.

The last comment in the bug report says it should be fixed in git as of yesterday.

I see it says we need at least 1.5, I have 1.4 and there isn't 1.5 available in the software center for Kubuntu.

On this site, I don't see any obvious download links to get 1.5. There are links for downloads to MSN and "old version" of Windows programs.

Where does one download the latest Wine version?

The fix is in git, not yet released. If you want it now, you have to build Wine yourself from git. Otherwise, wait for 1.5.6. Ubuntu packages of development releases are available from https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/ppa
