Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 installer failed (Wine 1.4)
Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 installer failed (Wine 1.4)
I want to install Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1(japanese disk).
I have copied OLEAUT32.DLL of install disk to .wine/drive_c/windows/system32/ .
However, is displayed as "OLEAUT32.DLL is not incompatible", fail to install.
Why do Wine fail to install?

Re: Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 installer failed (Wine 1.4)
Why did you copy native oleaut32 in the first place? It is not needed for Office 2000. AFAIK, the only native dll that is needed to install Office 2000 is mfc42, and you can install that with winetricks.nokami31 wrote:I want to install Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1(japanese disk).

Re: Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 installer failed (Wine 1.4)
"OLEAUT32.DLL is not incompatible" is displayed in the built-in oleaut32.dll. I have copied the native OLEAUT32.DLL so.dimesio wrote:Why did you copy native oleaut32 in the first place? This way has been reported in several blog in Japan. Previously I was able to install in this way. (openSUSE 12.1 32bit, Wine 1.4-rc4)
Is this way wrong?
Re: Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 installer failed (Wine 1.4)
That message makes no sense. "Not incompatible" would mean that it is compatible, and if it is compatible, there would be no reason for any message at all. So I think you must be misreading whatever the message is.nokami31 wrote:OLEAUT32.DLL is not incompatible" is displayed in the built-in oleaut32.dll.
I have already told you it is wrong. Is this way wrong?
Re: Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 installer failed (Wine 1.4)
This is not enough. You need to set it to native in winecfg->libraries tab.nokami31 wrote:I have copied OLEAUT32.DLL of install disk to .wine/drive_c/windows/system32/ .

Hi Nokami,
which kind of Windows emulation did you set in winecfg? Probably something like 2000 or XP would be preferable. Maybe you should start with a clean wineprefix (move/rename .wine folder, a new .wine folder will be created by wine when run again) and reinstall Office 2000. Would you be able to install an english version of Office 2000?

Updating MS Office 2000 Standard to SR1 via Wine (Mint 13)
I hope I'm not hijacking someone else's thread. But it is a related issue.
I can easily install MS Office 2000 via Wine (as XP) in Ubuntu 12.04 and Mint 13. It will even take some early updates and the file format converters for MS Office 2007/10.
Works a treat.
Unfortunately I get a Wine 'internal error' when I try to upgrade Office to 2000 SR-1 (which I was able to do in Windows - and then SR2 and SR3).
I do believe I have the correct SR-1 update installer (though it was pretty difficult to track down as Microsoft no longer supports Office 2000)
Has anyone else encountered this specific issue and found a way round it?
