AnimeStudioPro7 crashed with openSUSE 11.4

Post by click-clack »

I'm trying to get Anime Studio Pro 7 run in openSUSE 11.4 but the application crashes on startup. (Whole UI loads before crash)
I've tried both KDE and Gnome-versions in virtualbox and on actual machine.
Wine 1.3.12.

I can and do run the application in Ubuntu 10.10, 11.04 and Linux Mint 10 with wine versions 1.2.2 and 1.3.19. No crashes whatsoever.

Here is the feedback when starting ASpro from the terminal in openSUSE:

What might be wrong?[/url]

Try with newer Wine version.

Try 'winetricks ie7'.

Thank you.

That did get me closer to solving this.
In openSUSE 11.4, 64bit (wine 1.3.12) it couldn't be installed, said the architecture isn't supported or something along those lines.

In Mint XFCE, 64-bit (Debian based, wine 1.3.20) ie7 did install and the application is not crashing anymore. So, sucess!
(I get issues with my tablet and ASpro though. Don't think that has to do with Wine though so nevermind...)

In Mint11 RC, 64bit it did crash with wine 1.3.15. I downgraded to wine 1.2.2 and now it worked. Tested an upgrade to 1.3.15 once again and it still works!
(no winetricks ie7 done)

So,do you think the issue is ie7 or something else?

If it worked without ie7 then it's wine64. If you need Wine to get things done, remove wine64 from your system. It's still way too buggy.

I have the wine32 package installed in opensuse 11.4 64-bit.
Is this to shaky? Do I have to run wine in 32-bit system? (This is not an option as I depend on 64-bit for other tasks)

No. Normal (multiarch) 64-bit system should support 32-bit apps.
