wine and wine-staging have black screen for Frosty Mod Manager

Post by ipkpjersi »

Hi,

I'm trying to run Frosty Mod Manager 1.0.5.9 but when it starts up, it just displays a black screen:

Here is the output of wine:

Does anyone know how to fix this, or if it's even possible? Does anyone have this application working?

Thanks.

I found the solution. I'm using wine-ge-custom wine-lutris-ge-6.14-2-x86_64 by GloriousEggroll and Frosty Mod Manager now loads - it also loads on wine-devel (Battlefront II crashes ingame with wine-devel) which indicates to me that the fix is upstream on wine which means this issue is finally fixed after months/years of having it. With wine-ge-custom wine-lutris-ge-6.14-2-x86_64 when I rename c:/windows/system32/nvapi64.dll to c:/windows/system32/nvapi64_.dll, I can now load in-game and play Star Wars Battlefront II on Linux with mods using Frosty Mod Manager.

This is huge news for me, I've wanted this for years and now it's possible.

I'd mark this thread as solved but I'm not sure how to.

You might look at this fix for Diablo II Resurrected Beta. The game was stuck with black screen. It turns out the proton-vkxd3d project found the d3d12.dll was causing the problem and posted a simple fix.
