Installing old version of Wine

Post by jeffneedle »

I use a Debian based Linux. I want to install Wine 1.8 or 1.6. These are just perfect for the applications I want to run. In my repos, the only Wine version available is 4.x. Playonlinux doesn't work for me. Can't I just install the older versions of Wine?

If you can find packages that old they may still install or you may have dependency problems. afaik winehq.org has packages only as far back as 2.4; older versions probably exist on some debian server somewhere. Also building wine yourself is an option although that may have issues as well with such an old version. Also also, things should work on current wine and if they don't it may be worth filing a bug report.
