Sculptris - problem with KMS and ATI/AMD open source drivers

Post by lolko7 »

Welcome
GPU: ATI/AMD Radeon HD 3870. I know it's old gfx but still good and very fast for my work.
Last native AMD drivers was 13.1 from 21/01/2013. This drivers with openSUSE 12.2 and Sculptris works very good, but after upgrade to openSuSe 13.2 (open source drivers Mesa 10.5.6) I have a problem with mouse cursor. I can't sculpt. Mouse cursor disappear on the edge my 3d model. It happens when KMS is default turn on in my bootloader. When I turn off KMS (add nomodeset to bootloader) all back to normal but performance is very, very poor.
Could You look at that problem and help me ? Sculptris is very good program and with keyboard-patch works Great. Imho faster than in windows and should.
Greetings

P.S. Sorry if i made language errors. English is not may native.

From what you say, the problem is with the open source graphics driver. It may be related to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33183.

Hi, I still fight with this.
When I start Sculptris from terminal, I have this:
wine Sculptris.exe
fixme:winediag:start_process Wine Staging is a testing version containing experimental patches.
fixme:winediag:start_process Please report bugs at http://bugs.wine-staging.com (instead of winehq.org).
fixme:ole:RemUnknown_QueryInterface No interface for iid {00000019-0000-0000-c000-000000000046}
fixme:heap:RtlSetHeapInformation (nil) 1 (nil) 0 stub
fixme:wgl:X11DRV_wglChoosePixelFormatARB unused pfAttribFList
fixme:wintab32:X11DRV_WTInfoW Return proper size

Imho this two last line told that something is wrong.
I just start reading about this errors but maybe someone seen solution with familiar problem.
Greetings

Wine Staging is not supported here. Please test with plain Wine instead.

Ok.
The same for wine 1.7.46
Mesa 10.6.1
wine ./Sculptris.exe
fixme:service:scmdatabase_autostart_services Auto-start service L"tandpl" failed to start: 2
fixme:ole:RemUnknown_QueryInterface No interface for iid {00000019-0000-0000-c000-000000000046}
fixme:heap:RtlSetHeapInformation (nil) 1 (nil) 0 stub
fixme:wgl:X11DRV_wglChoosePixelFormatARB unused pfAttribFList
fixme:wintab32:X11DRV_WTInfoW Return proper size

What You think ? It's problem with wine or I should looking for help on Bugzilla ? I do not want to disturb/bore here if it's kernel or mesa problem but I don't know where report problem. I'm not programmer.
