opening ..xfd file with wine

Post by scottym » Wed Feb 27, 2008 8:14 pm

Just installed Wine and PureEdge so I can work with the US government's forms but am unable to open the form which is a file ending with .xfd extension. Can anyone shed some light on how to get PureEdge started?

Using Ubuntu Gutsy and FF

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Last I tried, it failed due to
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11625

although some people say it worked in the past,
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... ngId=12461

I suppose you might try running it with wine-0.9.37;
you'll need to do
sh winetricks vcrun6
first. Good luck.

Scotty:

Can you attach the file to bug 11625? I am working on a fix for the
EM_FONTRANGE is a stub problem, but the form attached the issue will not
open with the version of PureEdge that I obtained.

Thank you.

I don't know if this is because of a bug because I don't know what commands I should be using to start pureedge. Is there a pureedge.exe to click on or some other way to start the program. Can someone please help me with the commands or procedure to start pureedge?
Thanks,
Scotty

Thanks,

Depends on what Operating System you are using.

In most cases you would do the following:

cd ~./.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/PureEdge/Viewer\ 6.0 (at least that
is where it installed)
wine masqform.exe

This should start the Viewer program. If it does not, please examine
any messages sent to the screen. If you get an error, then the program
should terminate with many messages on the screen.

You may end up with the problem identified in Bug 11625 where you cannot
change data in forms. If you do, please vote for this bug.

Thank you.

Thanks James, a whole bunch!!! That worked.

There is an extra ./ that is not needed in the cd you sent.

Thanks, Scotty

Thank you for the gentle reminder about that. Sometimes my hands move
too fast!

The proper command is

cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/PureEdge/Viewer\ 6.0

then you execute the program with

wine masqform.exe

Can you please attach the working .xfd file to Bug 11625? I am trying
to get the problem specified in that bug fixed.

Sorry, I don't think that attaching the file is possible because the file is a request for a grant and I don't have permission to post it.

Thanks for your help, though.

Does the file contain any personal information? If so, I don't want it
posted on the Internet for many reasons. If not, then it can possibly
be posted as we are using it to troubleshoot a problem. If you don't
mind, where did you get the file from, if it does not contain any
personal information?

Thank you.

It does contain personal and sensitive information. Sorry, but I can not post it on the internet.

Thank you. Hopefully, your problem is solved. I will continue to
search for the appropriate files for the version of PureEdge that I have
here.
