.exe updater can't browse the file

Post by soaveira »

I'm new to Linux (Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS), and I'm trying to install updates for an application through an .exe file. This .exe demands to browse for the application it's supposed to update, but when I look for it there's nowhere to be found among the folders. When I asked the update devellopers about this issue they said that's probably somenthing to do with prefix, but aren't able to help, as they aren't familiar with wine. I also looked for it on the internet and wasn't able to solve this issue either. Could somebody help?

By default, Wine stores the files in the hidden .wine folder.
Hidden folders can be made visible in winecfg:
winecfg → Drives → ☑ Show dot files → OK

Launch the update program and browse to:
(My Computer) Z:\home\name\.wine\drive_c\path\to\exe
