Is it OK to post bug reports on WineHQ while using Proton?

Post by ryester27 »

Seeing as though Proton is more of a convenience project that doesn't divert too far from the master Wine branch, would it be OK to use Proton builds when submitting bug reports on WineHQ? I feel as though you get better responses here, and it would save me from having to set up a pure Wine test environment.

I figured as much. Setting up a lxc container shouldn't be too painful.

Is it better to use wine or wine-staging for bug reporting purposes?

In most cases, use the development branch. The exceptions are if you are dealing with a game that only works in wine-staging, or if you are sure the bug is only present in wine-staging.
