Wine 3.0-rc1

Post by Cybermax »

Battle.net app does not launch unless i set OS to Windows XP. Trying to launch the game "World of Warcraft" from the "Play" button, just leaves a unresponsive "nothing".

Trying to launch the game directly gives a "ERROR: Game Initialization Failed!" message.

Setting "OS" to anything other than XP will crash Battle.net and World of Warcraft.

The "Staging" tap in Winecfg is not there anymore either.. does that mean CSMT comes at a later stage, or is "per default" always enabled?

Wine Staging always gets a big laggardly at this time of year! It's currently stuck on version 2.21.
It's probably easiest to track Wine Staging releases on their Github Releases page.
You're correct in assuming you still need a recent version of Wine Staging to get the Blizzard battle.net launcher working.

In other words: They have not implemented enough of the "staging" patches in mainline 3.0 to make Battle.net work.

Ait.. Lets see what can be done about that then :) Thx Bob
