I remember there was a wiki page WineOnWindows, which doesn't exist any more.
Also, even the official downloads page listed a wine exe installer.
What happened to this branch? The only thing I managed to find is a slightly outdated instruction how to build wow on Dan Kegel's homepage.
What happened to the Windows version of Wine?
Re: What happened to the Windows version of Wine?
The wiki page hasn't been ported to the new wiki yet. It's still available on the old one. http://oldwiki.winehq.org/WineOnWindows
Wine on Windows was never a "branch," and I don't know where you thought you saw an exe installer for Wine. All the packages on the old download site (http://sourceforge.net/projects/wine/fi ... 0Packages/) are tar.bz2 files containing Wine's builtin executables (winecfg, etc.) and dlls, for testing only. They were not a full version of Wine. The project stopped providing them over three years ago, and I believe the reason was because too many users mistakenly thought they could run Wine on Windows. You can't.
