half-life 1 with steam... issues

ok when i go to play half life 1 off steam, it gives me a weird error, heres a video of what happens....

help would be nice... i kinda would like to play this game

you cant read the error in the video but it says

SV_StartSound: Volume = 510

Edit: the video quality isnt really like that when playing, i think the recorder has a low framerate

Without video explain what is the problem? What Wine version, video card, drivers?

ok when i go to play HL1 i cant go longer than 5 min, once i walk into the HEV suit the game crashes...

im using the latest wine version for amd64
Geforce 8800GT with 169.12 drivers for amd64
im on Ubuntu 7.10 Gusty amd64

Have you checked the AppDB about this? I believe looking there solved this
problem for me.

i did check, it said that this game is actually supposed to run "out of the box"

I'm assuming you using OpenGL mode and not direct3d?
