Current situation of Valgrind through Wine

Post by darlingm »

I'm installing Wine on Fedora 21, purely so I can try Valgrind on Windows apps.

I tried following the steps at http://wiki.winehq.org/Wine_and_Valgrind.

There is a category "Additional Wine Patches", which are links to several bugs with patches from years ago that were never incorporated. Some of the patches still work fine. Others I was able to manually look at, and see what needed to be done. Others looked like they were for areas substantially changed or now gone.

I also see at the top of that page a download for scripts (suppression files) from AustinEnglish.

I wanted to check the status of running Valgrind through Wine. Is it still worth applying the "Additional Wine Patches" that can be applied? Or, do AustinEnglish's suppression files do the trick? It surprises me to see bugs open from years ago, with proposed patches, never applied or rejected.
