Fonts are too small in menu bar [SOLVED]

Post by LuisC-SM »

Hi.

Is there any chance I can increase the size of my fonts for the applications opened with wine?

My resolution is 1600 x 1050 and the size seems to be from 5 to 6 pixels (or dpi) and it really hurts my eyes.

All my linux apps are just ok at 10 pixels (or dpi)

Thanks in advance

Luis

try winecfg

I suppose you could change the fonts in the menus, tooltips and message boxes using winecfg. Go to the "Desktop Integration" tab. There you can set these fonts and font sizes. I do that frequently to get decent-looking apps.
Other fonts of the GUI may be "hardwired" into the applications and hard to access. There is, BTW also a "Screen Resolution" slider on the "Graphics" tab. I'm not sure what it does or if it has an effect on the fonts. Just providing a lead here. Good luck.

Try to increase the dpi settings in winecfg. Default is 96, which is small for
your resolution.

Hi.

Thanks a lot to both of you guys...

Increasing the DPI is kind of tricky... it does not accept my X values (115 DPI) but it accepts, 113 and 116 dpi, which is ok for me.
Changing the size fonts in the Desktop Integrator gives me the followint error:
fixme:msg:pack_message msg 14 (WM_ERASEBKGND) not supported yet
I think, to be able to use this feature, there is a need of a theme??... although I might be wrong....

Thanks in advance for your help

Luis

PS. The winecfg window has changed to a nice and viewable size, but other win applications like iexplorer maintain the same size (small)

This one is harmless here. It only concerns the winecfg window, not the
process of setting the value hidden behind :)
