Irfanview 4.30 cannot be installed

Post by nounours18200 »

Hi,

I try to install Irfanview 4.30 using WINE 1.3 (from my Fedora 16 Linux).

When I open the "iview430_setup.exe" file with the Wine launcher, nothing happened, Wine does not perform the install.

What can I do ?
Tks

Without seeing the actual terminal output this would only be a guess:
the installer for Irfanview 4.x requires mfc42.dll
Perform 'winetricks mfc42' and try again with the installer.

See the installation note in AppDB:

Well, I have managed to install IrfanView 4.28 using Winetricks + I have had to install "cabextract" in addition, wuth the "yum install cabextract" command.

The Irfanview is opened on my desktop, but.... I do not see Irfanview in the WINE applications list: so if I close it, I do not know how I can start it again ! Lol

Where is the shotcut ??

Tks

O know that Irfanview 4.28 has been intalled on my PC (using winetricks), but I still do not find a shortcut for it in the KDE/Wine menu ...

Any idea how to get it ?

Add one with your menu editor.

LoL

The problem is not to add a shortcut : the problem is to identify where the Irfanview program is installed in order to create the shortcut...

The default wineprefix is ~/.wine, which is a hidden folder in your home directory. Set your file manager to show hidden files and you will be able to browse to it. Most modern Windows apps create a subdirectory for themselves under Program Files, so that's where I'd look first.
