AppDB: 'zz Do not use' Operating System

Post by Sparen »

I have a question about the 'zz Do not use' Operating System.

I recently submitted test data for an app I haven't submitted test data for in a long time and I noticed that the operating system for one of my old tests, reported 6 years ago, now has a ''zz Do not use' Operating System instead of the proper OS X one. Now, I don't remember *which* ancient version of OS X I used back then but I'm sure I didn't file a test report under 'zz Do not use'.

Could someone explain to me if this is an error, or if this was done on purpose (IE it's a documented way for AppDB administration to handle certain OSes, etc)?

Relevant AppDB page:

Thank you.

It was a way for admins to handle invalid operating systems that got added to the database before https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27378 was fixed. We had to move the test report to something before deleting the invalid one, and "'zz Do not use" served that purpose when it was impossible to tell from the test report what the real OS should be.

As for your test report, I notice that you filed another one 5 days later that listed Mac OSX 10.7. I could change the "'zz Do not use" to that, unless, of course, you have reason to believe you upgraded your OS in those five days (in which case you should be able to remember what you upgraded from).
