Also strange that three years ago someone said,
"You could try a more recent version, either devel or staging, 6.7 just released Friday.
I was able to start installing the trial version but it appears to use some DRM that prevented going further."
Why can't I do it with staging 9.3?

Re: WordPerfect 2020 installation crashes
I just tried again with Debian Bookworm and it crashes too. Here is the output. Any ideas, please? WordPerfect 2020 installation crashes
I tried this some time ago . Sadly, this forum subscribes to the superstition of locking old topics to shoo away bad spirits or something. So I had wine-staging 4.13 at the time. Now I have 9.3. WordPerfect 2020 no longer thinks I am running Windows XP, it runs the installer right away, but the inst...

Can't install on Debian 11 - bullseye
Very fresh Debian 11 bullseye installation. Just a few new things have been installed. I added the key and repository. apt update works. But synaptic won't let me install any version of Wine. In most of the times, I get this: https://0x0.st/HR-F.png On two occasions, I got this: https://0x0.st/HR-C....

Fancy new GUIs that won't respond
Sometimes I run into very new VST plugins that have these fancy new GUIs that won't respond. They load, they display the GUI, sometimes they even produce sound, but nothing in the GUI will respond to my mouse. Is there anything I can do to overcome that? Some additional runtime or library override p...

Re: Pegasus Mail crashes
Have your tried the workaround mentioned at https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=40720 ? That is to remove ierenderer, see comment by Michael Setzer II. That helped. Pegasus complains at every startup: "Pegasus Mail has encountered an operating system error while a...

I can run Kontakt 5 and even 6 on wine-staging 5.12, but I can't run Kontakt 7 at all.

Won't run as administrator
Dumb installer refuses to run as administrator. I googled and it's clear that it's an old and frequent issue and there doesn't seem to be any solution to it.
Or is there? I decided to ask. Who knows, maybe there is some kludge.

Re: Old wine, Skype not working
I thought about going down that path, but I was more cautious than that. Instead of adding stretch-backports to my sources.list, I went to the download page and obtained the package. Then I opened it with GDebi, because GDebi gives me useful warnings. In this case: Error: Breaks existing package 'li...

No, I'm running Debian Stretch. I installed winbind. Doesn't seem to have helped. I tried two versions of Skype. Re: I can't install on Debian 10/Buster
Sure, but I like to leave wine prepared for as many applications as possible. ColorCop is not even important. Linux has gcolor2 which is native and just as good. I was just using ColorCop (and other applications) to test the new wine installation.

Solved: I can't install on Debian 10/Buster
It turns out my /etc/apt/sources.list file was broken with an incomplete list of sources so I wasn't getting the complete list of packages, especially :386. I fixed that and wine installed well, including :386. ColorCop still doesn't work, but I'm working on it. I'm running a bunch of winetrick line...

Re: I can't install on Debian 10/Buster
Yes, I enabled multiarch. Then I ran apt-get update, but wine-staging-i386 doesn't show up as available in Synaptic. A complete Wine installation consists of four packages. - winehq-<branch> - wine-<branch> - wine-<branch>-amd64 - wine-<branch>-i386 The first package provides the wine command in /us...

I can't install on Debian 10/Buster
I can't use Wine on Debian 10/Buster. Plain 'wine' is available, but nothing that I try at it will run. Note this is a remote shared machine that I don't own so I can't upgrade. It was hard enough getting permission to install wine on it. So I tried wine-staging which is what I have on my local mach...

Re: Point on num keypad produces a comma
I have the same keyboard. (...) Okay, when I hit the period key on my numpad I get: That makes a bit more sense, because the key is marked Del. I don't know what key to press on the numpad for a comma though. Then you don't have the same layout as I do. Some layouts have 17 keys in the numeric keyp...

Point on num keypad produces a comma
The point (.) key and the comma (,) key on my numeric keypad work correctly with Linux applications.
But both produce a comma if I'm typing into a Windows application. Any Windows application.
Is there any way to fix that?
