Re: Problems with wincfg

The "wine" metapackage installs all the required subpackages. It exists in both 64 and 32 bits versions. Sounds like you didn't install all the necessary 32 bit parts of Wine. I believe Fedora splits Wine into lots of different packages; make sure you have all the ones you need. Do you kno...

Re: Creating a working desktop shorcut for Rosetta Stone 3.4

When you create your link you need to make sure the working directory of that link is set to where the .exe is. Most windows programs care about it while linux ones don't (that's why it doesn't get set usually) To describe the situation more technicaly, you could say that windows programs are badly...

Re: New User.. Just general advice

I have tried to install two games since installing wine, (Wolfenstein and an older game). Wolfenstein crashed during installation with not much info given. The older game (RTCW) which comes on two disks started installing ok but then crashed when I inserted the second disk. So, I'm kinda giving up ...

Look at the log, winetricks is explicitely mentionned.

OK well it seems like an old error that says its fixed but 1.5 says not. even if i report it, it says its fixed? Make sure you have the latest winetricks, downloaded directly from winetricks.org, before reporting it. The one in your distro's repository may not be the latest. The current winetricks ...

Re: serial permissions it is

I am using Fedora 16. Using "ls -l /dev/ttyS*" shows 4 "devices" with "crw-rw----" for each one. So then I looked on google for setting serial permissions, and entered "chmod a+rw /dev/ttyS0" as root and the serial port now works! That was a nice victory, but...

Re: cd %TMP% ?

It depends on the drive you're on. You can't switch to a folder in other drive. So if when you run wine cmd you are not in the same drive as %TMP% is you will feel like it didn't work. Example: It doesn't if you use cd with the /d parameter. F:\>cd /d %TMP% C:\windows\profiles\syl\Temp>

it does not work with WINE 1.3 either No such version. I said you have to have wine-1.3.36 or wine-1.3.37 (last two releases, until tomorrow that is of course). I opened winecfg, went to drives, added a drive D: mapped to /dev/sr0, opened the advanced options and selected CD. Wrong. You map drive t...

Re: Installing the hard way?

I'm trying to install a program called PV-WAVE and the installer seems to be failing (early on) for some reason.
