If it's a real Windows driver, it's not going to work with Wine. Wine runs Windows software, not drivers.

Note that I have not checked the details on the software itself. But it definitely sounds like it would hook into your existing drivers to generate the effect efficiently.

Re: ATI Graphics card

i know that Linux and WINE are not in love with ATI cards (yet), but i It's that ATI/AMD is notoriously not in love with GLX or OpenGL on Linux unless someone makes them stand-up like in the case of Rage in the Windoze world. I'm sure the WineD3D devs have stories of submitting bug reports to ATI. ...

You should probably ask the person who packages Wine for your specific distro. What you should be wondering, though, is if you actually need it. Wine can run easily through the file manager and terminal, and applications themselves tend to make shortcuts in a Wine submenu (unless this is exactly the...

You don't necessarily need the terminal for all tweaking; the proprietary graphics drivers have a graphical tool that's called Catalyst Control Center that also lets you set up some stuff. Fedora is also has the new Gallium-based open source drivers, which perform much better than the old open-sourc...

Have you tried if Wine works with a different prefix?

Code: Select all

WINEPREFIX=~/.winetest winecfg
If that launches, the old prefix you copied over from Ubuntu has somehow become corrupt. I went from Ubuntu to Fedora installs without any issues, so I wonder what went wrong.

Does this happen in all software? If so, you can open winecfg and change the default font under the Desktop Integration tab.

If that didn't work, try it with a clean wineprefix.

Well, what error? If you see an error or any other message printed, copy and paste it. "An error" isn't very helpful (though it's good you mentioned winevdm at least).
