I was in shock the moment I heard that the WineHQ database system got compromised. I do not think that an insecure HTTP access could have been the reason for the compromise but rather an attack on the admin credentials. Anyway, I am surprised to learn that the passwords were all encrypted.

I had been experiencing the same issues with some of my apps once I had updated my Wine to a more recent version. Google Sketchup seems to be one among those important apps which crashes consistently. Anyway, renaming the code file x86 as suggested here by Dimesio helped!

I too had been thinking whether it was possible for me to run Wine in a system which is non X11 by replacing the X11 backend driver with an SDL backend driver. I guess not since the SDL is incompatible with the X11. However, it would be nice if someone could come up with a tweak to make it compatible.
