You might look at this fix for Diablo II Resurrected Beta. The game was stuck with black screen. It turns out the proton-vkxd3d project found the d3d12.dll was causing the problem and posted a simple fix.

So I skipped 6.5 (staging) then tried 6.6 (staging) but had the same error and had go go back to 6.4 (staging).
Tried 6.7 (staging) today and all is good. I looked through the change log but I have no idea what fixed it.

Install winecfg. Open and click Libraries tab. Click down arrow and scroll to the dll, select dll click Add. Then edit and select native.

I had same problem with Diablo 3 (black window) when I upgraded to staging 5.7. Went back to 5.6 and all is good.
