Re: Preparing To Build Version 9.0
So I guess vkd3d-winehq is included in the wine source now? I had a previous standalone library already installed and it doesn't seem to look for it. It used to say something during configure if it couldn't find it. I even hid the standalone vkd3d-winehq library and it didn't complain. I tried setti...

Re: Preparing To Build Version 9.0
Yep! Correct sir. It's because I use the glide wrapper, and every time I would go to launch it manually after copying it over I would forget to use the -3dfx switch(I use a launch alias with it in there), and it won't open at all nowadays in my setup without the glide wrapper and -3dfx. I just reali...

Re: Preparing To Build Version 9.0
Was able to get it built, here is what I had to do in case it helps someone else: 1. Extract wine tarball 2. Extract wine-staging zip 3. Enter wine-staging, apply scripts to wine directory 4. ./configure wine, but add mingw-w64 and mingw-w32 locations to $PATH first 5. Edit top-directory Makefile, a...

Re: Preparing To Build Version 9.0
I think I'll try wine-staging 9.6 to use with battle.net. I'll forge ahead with that if my vulkansdk version is okay.

Preparing To Build Version 9.0
The notes for wine version 9.0 say "The Vulkan driver supports up to version 1.3.272 of the Vulkan spec." Does that mean a vulkan version up to and including 1.3.272 is okay? Or does it mean a vulkan version 1.3.272 or later is needed. It reads like it means the first way, but usually proj...

Double check that it is using Vulkan/dxvk. Maybe it is, but it wasn't stated in the OP so just making sure.

Re: Where do you extract the Wine archive in Linux?
So it's a bit hard to answer this without more info. If you are using a distro, there is probably a package you could install via the package manager such as apt-get. This is usually the best bet. If you are trying to manually install a .deb package, you would install it at the root level /. If you ...

Hmm, definitely rings a bell, but a quick file search didn't turn anything up. There's also lutris and other helper type systems if you haven't tried something like that.

Well you definitely need to install the proprietary nvidia drivers at some point. It won't work until you do. Look into "winetricks" if you haven't already. Good luck!

Re: shadow of the tomb raider wine 9.0 and ubuntu 23.10...
Just a fellow nvidia user here. Yes, you need to install the nvidia proprietary driver. It will install dynamic libraries in /usr/lib or a similar place. For example I checked, and I have in /usr/lib: libnvidia-glvkspirv.so.535.104.05 Along with all the others: libEGL_nvidia.so.0 -> libEGL_nvidia.so...

Fellow user here. I poked around and it looks like this item just doesn't work well or work at all under linux/wine:

Re: 32-bit GLX on 64 bit system
Here is a simple hello world program built in 32 bit and 64 bit versions, if this will help debug your issue(it might not help).
Code: Select all
tar -xvf files.tar.gz
./hello_world-32_bit
./hello_world-64_bit

Sorry, don't know if this will help at all, but I used to disable xrandr when building wine. This might not be an option for you to easily try though. And even then, it might not help. Good luck.

Re: Run 32-bit.exe on Raspberry Pi OS 12 (Bookworm)
Hi, fellow user here. For me, on a debian-based distro, I would go the sudo dpkg --add-architecture route, but I don't know if it being a rpi would change my course. Also, I'm not familiar with box86, so not really a fair opinion from me : D

I vaguely remember someone having a similar issue and the detection script wasn't parsing the output of a command correctly, like mine just reports, "Version 4.8.4". The -Ubuntu added to the end might be screwing something up. It's obviously installed so it's either this or something simil...

Re: winetricks wants to remove winehq-staging in favor of wine-common
Great. If building from source for the first time it will take a bit of setup like switching to dev versions of some packages, but it shouldn't be too bad.

Re: winetricks wants to remove winehq-staging in favor of wine-common
Can you install winetricks and then install wine-staging afterwords? Like if installing winetricks uninstalls wine-staging and installs wine, does installing wine-staging remove winetricks? (Possible, I don't know) Also winetricks used to be just a script, so it might be possible to install it manua...

Re: Diablo IV - "GPU Not Supported"
Hi! First make sure dual architecture is in effect if you want it. Then, I think you would do an apt-get install for the vulkanlib, then you do a apt-get install for wine. Then I think you would do a winetricks vkd3d, and then a winetricks dxvk. This is just by memory and may be outdated or just pla...

Re: Diablo IV - "GPU Not Supported"
I'm thinking you can only use that if you use a debian package. So I think the steps for me when building from source would be: 1. build/install 64 bit and 32 bit vulkan from source 2. build/install 64 bit and 32 bit vkd3d-winehq or vkd3d-proton from source 3. build/install 64 bit and 32 bit wine fr...

Re: Diablo IV - "GPU Not Supported"
Ah okay, thanks! Naming conventions threw me off I think. I will check this out next time I mess around with it. Do you know if you are building from source if you need to still build vkd3d(-winehq)? Would the basic procedure be: 1. build/install vulkan from source 2. build/install vkd3d(-winehq) fr...

Re: Diablo IV - "GPU Not Supported"
Blizzard stuff usually plays nicely with wine. As if they develop with wine in mind. D4 is the first case where I've seen them really lag. It seem as vkd3d-proton works with it, but I don't know why vkd3d-winehq isn't adopting the same changes. But I'm more of a wine guy than a proton guy, so it's j...

Re: Hi, im having troubles launching winetricks.
Fellow user here. I know on debian you have to enable multiarchitecture to convert the system to support 64 bit and 32 bit applications. I don't know if that's your issue, but I would check if Arch has a similar mechanism. Sorry if it doesn't apply or help in your situation.
