Re: AudioGridder

Thank you. Im using wine 4.0.1.1 along macOS High Sierra (10.13.6). How to send a terminal output? Sounds like your using a third-party wine package and not using a Winehq package as by default when launched the Winehq packages directly launch terminal, but do support “Open With” but that’s not rec...

You need to provide terminal output along with the version of wine being used and macOS version.

The bug has been reported here.
Wine-5.7 is extremely old now.

If your running macOS High Sierra and later you'll be able to make use of my WineHQ like packages can be downloaded from https://github.com/Gcenx/macOS_Wine_builds, I recommend install them using my brew tap.

I’ll take a look over that Apple Script again tonight as I’m currently at work.

Yes I know your using you package it doesn’t make much of a difference.

Re: Running games through wine quickly fills up my storage

Once you have your game installed and running nice, you could just create an Apple Script launcher that loads the game using the installed copy of wine. There's an example in the macOS wiki section.

As you installed using brew wine will be available here /usr/local/bin/wine

Re: Can install Steam.exe but can't run it

Yeah it's unfortunately a known issue that still affects macOS (think it's resolved on Linux?) Launch Steam.exe via wine using the following command; "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -no-browser start steam://open/minigameslist This will skip the no working browser and load directly to the m...

I’d guess the issue is something with SomicAudio that you have installed on your system.

Re: Can install Steam.exe but can't run it

I didn't try gcenx-wine-stable but gcenx-wine-devel launched the Steam client in a clean 64Bit wineprefix without major issues.

The usual No Steam Store/Library but these are known issues for Steam.

Re: Can install Steam.exe but can't run it

Brew explains the issue. Error: Cask 'gcenx-wine-stable' conflicts with 'wine-stable' You need to uninstall wine-stable before attempting to install a conflicting cask. The wine-* casks including mine add symlinks to the wine provided binaries into $PATH, so only a single version can be installed at...

Re: Can install Steam.exe but can't run it

After an update sometime Steam likes to open in the taskbar only so check for a Steam icon around there. Wine-Stable-5.0 is over a year old now, if your running macOS High Sierra and later I do provide updates packages that can be installed using homebrew. brew tap gcenx/wine brew install --no-quara...

Re: Can install Steam.exe but can't run it

From the terminal session run “wine explorer”

Now navigate to where Steam is install and launch it as you would on Windows.

If you still have problems please provide the exact version of wine being used and any terminal output.

I’d avoid using distro provided wine packages and use the Winehq provided version. Unless the distro package is maintained by a Winehq maintainer.

Re: Does Wine support MS Access on an M1 MacBook ?

Thank you for your reply. I heard of some remote desktop solutions like Aws Workspaces maybe I will use that. There’s also Parallels for M1 that’s currently free, that allows you to run Windows 10 ARM edition that can run 32Bit Windows binaries, also handles 64Bit if you change to the insiders ring.

Wine doesn’t really work past macOS Mojave bar wine64.

You’ll lightly be wanting to use CrossOver instead.

Re: GTK3 Theming

Honestly building wine on macOS is a PITA. Unless your running macOS Catalina or later it doesn’t make sense to use homebrew for building wine considering they only provide 64Bit and recently ARM64 packages, there are no 32Bit packages from homebrew. Macports also has its own problems, I’m running t...

To get this option working within wine-staging it would need to be compiled from source with gtk3 available at configure/built time, the depreciated Winehq packages nor my packages were built with this available.

I recommend you install the package using brew, then using wine via Terminal as that’s always preferable and provides the most information.

You’ll need to provide real information for anyone to attempt to assist you.

- macOS Version
- Wine version
- terminal output

If your using a third-party utility you’ll need to contact them directly and not post here.

Do you have an estimate time when steam will be downloadable with wine for mac m1 or is it far fetched?
You could ask on the wine-devel mailing list for a timeline

As I’ve said above currently only CrossOver-20.0.1 and greater can function on M1 systems via Rosetta2.

Re: Macbook M1 and Wine 6.0 or 5.0

You would install the wine-devel package brew install --cask --no-quarantine gcenx-wine-devel You don’t launch the “Wine Devel” app directly there’s no point, just open Terminal and directly call “wine64” with what ever command you want to use. That’s the entire reason for installing via homebrew so...
