Dual Operating System device So, running DOS? Just joking... Aside from posting logs there is not much the developers can do i guess. Have a gander at this page to figure out how to post a log that might clarify the problem: https://wiki.winehq.org/Wine_Developer%27s_Guide/Debug_Logging There are o...

Re: online firmware updates via wine

i guess the online converter will just download and copy over the specific data to the device, so it is probably not as fragile as with bios updates. That kinda depends on how it is done on the device side i guess. If the device is somewhat self-updating, in a sense that if you put a specific file ...

Re: Need help with DLLs

ls .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files\ \(x86\)/LeapFrog/LeapFrog\ Connect2/Qt5.10.1/ So, does all these .DLL's reside in the "QT5.10.1" folder then? Cos i do not think there is any automagic thing happening that would understand where to find those .DLL's when it is not in either system folder or .exe fo...

It is worth trying wine-devel-5.0-rc6 before opening a bug report JUST in case this is something that is actually fixed in the upcoming wine-stable-5.0 that is most likely going to be released next weekend.

Re: contact maintainer of ubuntu wine package

There are currently 3 "branches" of wine. Wine-stable: This is the "Stable" release, and is updated maybe 2-3 times a year. This is what distro's themselves create packages for. (Depending on distro ofc). Wine-dev: This is the "testing" branch. New patches leading up to a new "stable" release. This ...

Re: Building 32 bit wine with Vulkan support

You could perhaps grab some source packages from LunarG and build from those? https://packages.lunarg.com/vulkan/1.1.130/pool/main/ These are used to build Ubuntu Xenial/Bionic packages, but should be adaptable for building. Not really familiar with LFS, but for the debian/ubuntu family, building cr...

Re: I cannot get dxvk to work.

The winehq-staging package has an indirect dependency on libvulkan1:i386 on Debian I don't know if this is different on Ubuntu. Ubuntu does not seem to have this. I noticed a fresh install of Debian 10 had libvulkan1:amd64 installed, but Ubuntu 18.04 does not. Adding winehq-staging to debian10 also...

Re: I have (Heap) commitment issues. 64bit 2GB Memory Limit?

Hmm.. Does the BattlEye server actually work as a "server"? Probably some different mechanics than the client version, cos the client does NOT work with wine.. ie. You cannot play a battleye protected game on wine/steam/proton currently. But that does not automatically mean the battleye "server" is ...

Re: WoW Classic installs but doesn't do anything on Play

I see you are attempting to run with D3D12 (the default), and that will not work "out-of-the-box" with most distro's these days afaik. Ubuntu 19.10 got vkd3d_1.1 (not working), Manjaro is built on Arch, and default Arch also might have too old an libvkd3d. So, you either need to get some updated lib...

Re: What will be the future of Wine on Ubuntu

It is not an abrupt end of 32-bit, as Canonical kinda did a step back due to a lot of gripe around this. So, as we CLEARLY have seen so far this year, 19.10 builds wine just fine with all 32-bit libraries in question, and from what i gather here: https://ubuntu.com/blog/statement-on-32-bit-i386-pack...

Eoan has -fcf-protection enabled by default according to http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/eoan/man1/m68k-linux-gnu-gcc-8.1.html NOTE: In Ubuntu 19.10 and later versions, -fcf-protection is enabled by default for C, C++, ObjC, ObjC++, if ...

Re: WINE Staging/Windows Steam Game Client - Screen Flickering?

Most unfortunate... Many Windows games don't work using "Proton" on Linux Steam. Hopefully this can be fixed soon? Jesse When it comes to steam, i would venture to say that it is "the best bet" to have a game work with steam... However, that is for steam games, and not a general "windows games". A ...

Re: Installing games in hidden /.wine folder

The "~./wine/" folder is the default folder, and imo i would not use that to set up a particular game or app like that. Preferrably this is used if you intend to quickly run a .exe file of sorts. Why? (My oppinion): Games sometimes requires specific hacks and .dll overrides, either through running w...

Re: Noob help with building WoW64

The problem with Ubuntu (and Mint ofc) is that the multilib support is poor. Thus you cannot compile it like "regular" user do with eg. Arch or Gentoo and whatnot. The link you first posted https://wiki.winehq.org/Building_Biarch_Wine_On_Ubuntu works fine - using "lxc". If you follow the recipe desc...

The idea of users paying Wine developers to fix bugs comes up periodically. The problem is that most users severely underestimate the cost of developer time. True. Ubuntu "Cosmic" aka 18.10 is EOL, and no longer supported.

Afaik ElementaryOS Juno is built on Ubuntu 18.04, and you should have selected "bionic" instead of "cosmic".
