Re: Wine 3.0 DirectX Error

Hi, thank you for your reply, I apologize for the delay. Yes, it appears Direct Rendering is enabled. It is using an nVidia graphics card with the proprietary drivers AFAIK as well, if that helps. glxgears utility seems to be working fine.

Thanks!

Wine 3.0 DirectX Error

Hello! Family member has currently up-to-date Zorin box that they use to play some simple games like Peggle Nights and such with. After a recent update to the system, every game I've attempted to run, Steam-based or not, gives the following error message: This application requires Directx to run. Yo...

Glyph/RIFT and WINE

Hi all, I seem to be having troubles playing RIFT through WINE on Linux Mint (Haven't tried it in Mac yet, but I assume from what I've read the same issue is there, too). In short, it crashes every time I try to load up Glyph, and I haven't been able to find a fix or a workaround yet. I tried a few ...

Re: sharing prefixes among distros?

Also, would it probably be better to share mainly the program files themselves instead of the prefixes? For example, when I install Steam, I point the installer to put the program itself in the shared drive. And then I can symlink the program files to their appropriate places in my wineprefixes. I h...

sharing prefixes among distros?

Hi all, I use both Gentoo and Linux Mint on the same machine, and would like to be able to share my wine prefixes between them, if possible. I was considering something along the lines of creating a shared folder that both OSes could access, and keeping the prefixes there. I've read that it's possib...

Re: Mac OS X 10.5 compatibility?

I was wondering if Wine lost 10.5 compatibility, or if any of the few people out there with it have noticed a problem. Up through 1.3.25 it seems to compile and work fine. On 1.3.26 and 1.3.27 the compile will fail with errors about a bunch of symbols in msxml3.dll.so that are not found. Building 1...

Thanks to both SpawnHappyJake and tparker for the recommendation to update the AppDB. Just did :-). Also, I did find a little news ; it looks like some more work was done recently on vertex shaders in wine in version 1.3.28. I remember reading that something about vertex shaders was part of one of t...

Forgive me if I am "necroing" this thread (it didn't seem TOO old). Does anyone have any news on this game? As I said before, for any devs who may read this, I would really love to see this game work in Linux; anything you can do that would make this game more compatible with WINE would be...

On a side note, wasn't there a way to run ALSA through PulseAudio? If I remember correctly, it was done somehow with the padsp command. Does anyone know if this would allow WINE to think it's using ALSA while still letting PA run?

Hi, and welcome to Linux. I'm not sure exactly how Slackware-based distros work, as I haven't used one before. Judging from the Absolute Linux webpage, you should be able to use Slackware packages in Absolute. Where you found all of the other versions (Ubuntu, Debian, Redhat, etc), there should be a...

Thought I saw something in the Wine 1.3.23 notes about new Vertex Buffer work; does anyone know if this is related to the problem of TS2 not running (Vertex shaders, I think it was)?

Thank you both for your help. And thank you for taking the time to write that up about how to get the logs.

Hi Hibba! You could post your debug outputs in Pastebin. That's a start. And give a link to them here. You could check the bug reports, and see if you have one that isn't posted yet, and post it if you have a new one. You could also update and leave comments in the App DB. Cheers, Jake Hi, thanks, ...

I'd like to voice my concerns about The Sims 2

Hi all, I just thought I'd stop in and voice a few thoughts concerns. I really enjoyed playing The Sims 2 and some of its expansion packs in Windows; it was one of my favorite games. I would truly love to see it working playably in WINE (there was a patch/mod that allowed it to start up, as I'm awar...

How to contact a lead Wine developer?

Hi all, I was looking here: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8051 , and in comment 81 it was recommended to contact the lead Wine developer(s) about the bug in question. I'm not sure who to contact, though. Might someone be able to tell me who would be an appropriate person/people to contact, ...
