To get rid of this error in Snow Leopard type the following to tellI went and tried to run launcher.exe again, because sometimes that has let me get farther, but same thing happened, and this is what was in the Terminal.
Code:
Astrauks-MacBook-Pro:Runes of Magic Astrauk$ wine launcher.exe
Wine cannot find the FreeType font library. To enable Wine to
use TrueType fonts please install a version of FreeType greater than

Ok new error, when patching the game a program called other.exe is called (not anywhere in the game files) but an error occurs and it has to close, this leads to the game thinking and saying that the patch is installed (yet when it goes to match against the server version, its not the right version. Here's the stuff from the Terminal, any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I would love to agree with you, but when I build Wine, it has to have a LD_LIBRARY_PATH or the dylibs cannot be found. If I could figure out why this is so, I might be able to fix it. I agree that the proper thing to do is DYLD_LIBRAY_PATH but that has not worked, yet.On 1/24/11 8:43 AM, James Mckenzie wrote:Shouldn't be. The dynamic linker certainly doesn't care about it. None, except this one. If you doubt it, I can send you screen shots where the library files are not found. This is also true of the Fink build, so I'm not alone with the problem. How many Linux-ported-to-Mac apps do you know that depend onas well since Wine is basically a Linux application.

Ok so I deleted wine and everything, then I reinstalled with the configuration you posted. I ran the setup for RoM and everthing was working, after it had finished installing and chose to not automatically go to the patch screen, I inputed the three commands you guys gave me to fix the errors that were there and now it gives me an error when I try to start up the Client, so I deleted the RoM folder and decided to reinstall, I went to the install file but it's giving me the same error. This is the error in the Terminal. What's wrong?

Astrauk:
I have a Wine source build for OS X that works:
http://code.google.com/p/osxwinebuilder/
If you're compiling from source, you'll need to set some environment variables before running configure (these assume Xquartz is installed into /opt/X11, the default location for Snow Leopard/10.6):
Then re-run configure and rebuild with make.
Once you've built Wine, you'll need to run it with the proper DYLD environment variables. You'll need to do this every time; you should be able to run Wine from the source directory to test as well should you not want to install it:
DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH is not the proper environment variable, and will cause issues loading shared libs; DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH is the proper environment variable.
LD_LIBRARY_PATH is not used on Mac OS X unless you've somehow replaced your dynamic linker and C library with the ones from Linux. James is incorrect unless he's somehow done that, screwed up his own system (which is likely), or someone in the Fink project is playing shenanigans (which I seriously doubt).
LD_LIBRARY_PATH will not hurt anything but it is simply not used on OS X; you can set it to your heart's content but it's not going to help anything at all. Setting DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH to anything (i.e., not leaving it blank) will probably cause failures in finding shared libraries. Use DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH and see the dynamic linker manpage (man dyld) for library search order. -r

Did you make sure you 'sudo make install'ed Wine? There should be a file
'winex11.drv.so' in /usr/local/lib/wine.
Also, is X running? It should start automatically. When XQuartz
installs, it tells you to log out then log back in so X gets started

I'll take the second. I know that I have installed gcc from Fink, but that should not require the use of LD_LIBRAY_PATH on any output files.Astrauk:

I'll do so. In the meantime, I'll have to backup the system and find my Snow Leopard disksSetting DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH to anything (i.e., not leaving it blank) will probably cause failures in finding shared
libraries. Use DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH and see the dynamic linker manpage (man dyld) for library search order.
I really would like to do a full clean out anyway for various reasons. Have to take a long vacation to get everything proper and to reload Fink and its dependencies. Not enough hours in the day to make it work.
BTW, we could have a private conversation on this rather than clutter up the Wine Forums and vitamin would appreciate it.
