This is the sum total of my results so far:
fun@heidi:~/download$ wine ChromeSetup.exe
fixme:ntoskrnl:KeInitializeSpinLock 0x457a04
fun@heidi:~/download$
No window opening or anything. This is on Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 4.1.

Google's working on a native Linux version, so hopefully this will be a
non-issue soon.

No luck here, ( fedora Core 9 )
I get this as Root and My user.,

There's a post on the Ubuntu Forums where someone got somewhere
downloading the zip file from the Chromium page:

At least it starts!
(So Wine's immediate problem with both the small installer and the
full installer is getting the installer to work at all ...)
