This is the sum total of my results so far:

fun@heidi:~/download$ wine ChromeSetup.exe
fixme:ntoskrnl:KeInitializeSpinLock 0x457a04
fun@heidi:~/download$

No window opening or anything. This is on Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 4.1.

Google's working on a native Linux version, so hopefully this will be a
non-issue soon.

There's a post on the Ubuntu Forums where someone got somewhere
downloading the zip file from the Chromium page:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=908493&page=3

At least it starts!

(So Wine's immediate problem with both the small installer and the
full installer is getting the installer to work at all ...)

Oh, and see this:

http://digg.com/tech_news/BREAKING_Google_Chrome_Just_Launched?t=18383763#c18387480

Apparently you can build something for Linux or MacOS X but not browse
with it. Anticipated working Linux/Mac version: months.

But the Windows binary in Wine can be beaten into at least starting and failing!

Browser share after Chrome's only been out a few hours: 3%. o_0
